How the Popularity Rank is calculated
The popularity rank is computed in two steps.
First, each tool receives a popularity score (0–100) from three weighted factors: GitHub stars (40%), recent publications from PubMed in the last two years (30%), and the existing popularity score (30%). GitHub stars are normalized (0–1000 stars map to 0–50 points; 1000+ stars map to 50–100 points), and recent publications are normalized (0–10 publications map to 0–30 points; 10+ publications map to 30–50 points).
After all tools are scored, they are sorted by score in descending order and assigned ranks, with rank 1 being the most popular. Tools with identical scores receive the same rank, and the next rank is skipped accordingly.
