Role Description
This is a remote Volunteer / Internship role (expected > 4 hrs / week) for a Mobile Application Developer (Android/iOS) focused on creating and enhancing React Native mobile applications used to provision and manage 37degrees devices in life sciences. The selected individual will help extend its functionality and improve the user experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Improve and debug existing BLE onboarding workflows for IoT device registration
- Develop new UI components for user onboarding, device status, and device interaction flows
- Collaborate with backend and hardware teams to refine BLE packet handling, connection state tracking, and device-cloud communication protocols
- Ensure smooth multi-platform deployment across Android and iOS using React Native
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Interest in the life sciences or experience in related industries is a plus
- Pursuing or completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Qualifications
- Experience building React Native Mobile Applications
- Experience with UX wire-framing, requirement management and testing
- Knowledge of Application Development and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Familiarity or understanding of Wi-Fi provisioning, Soft-AP / BLE pairing, or similar IoT onboarding patterns
- Proficiency in Android / iOS Development
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Interest in the life sciences or experience in related industries is a plus
- Familiarity with cloud-based APIs and device identity / authentication flows is a plus.
- Pursuing or completed a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
Compensation
- This is a Volunteer / Internship position that is Unpaid and assessed on a monthly basis
Responsibilities
- Lead the mobile application UX wireframes
- Develop mobile front-ends Android/iOS applications
- Release new app versions in App stores
- Interface with cloud backend & HW developers
- Maintain front-end project software code base
Must Have
- Bachelor Degree or Higher
- Passion for software products
- Proven interest in front-end mobile application
- Highly creative and autonomous
- Ability to dedicate (>4 hrs / week) unpaid
Nice to have
- Cloud backend development experience
- Gitlab / Github experience
- Mobile app testing experience
- Strong technical writing / documentation skills
- Creating mobile app usage videos & animations
