37degrees designs modular, IoT-native hardware and an AI-ready data layer that connect devices, data, analysis and decisions to automate scientific workflows — freeing scientists to focus on biology rather than tools. John brings more than 25 years of experience leading commercial organizations in life sciences and diagnostics, and has generated more than $500 million in five-year partnership value across his career.

In their words

“I am delighted to be joining the business advisory board at 37degrees. I have been speaking with Tilak Jain, CEO and Founder, for over a year, and few conversations in this industry have impressed me the way these have. The team’s progress with its portfolio is remarkable. CultureON and OMĒOS, the initial offerings of an expanding lineup, stand out as innovative platforms that connect devices, data, analysis, and decisions, freeing scientists to focus on the science. Having spent much of my career on the OEM and instrumentation side of this industry, I recognize what it takes to build technology like this — and I’m looking forward to helping 37degrees bring it to the market it deserves.”

“John joins us as we design our commercial architecture to best serve our customers’ needs. His deep background in instrumentation, consumables and automation is a perfect match for our vision and ambitions. John brings executive-level discipline to our strategic partnerships, product planning and operations. We’ve had several conversations with John over the past year, and we’re delighted to formally welcome him to our Board of Advisors.”

Commercial leadership across instrumentation and diagnostics

John’s career spans the companies that build, partner on and sell the instruments modern laboratories run on.

  • Analytik Jena US — CEO / Managing Director, North America Sales and Service Organization. Led the P&L for a ~$20M instrumentation business, built its go-to-market strategy, and developed a high-performing team of ~38 people.
  • KMC Systems (now HiArc) — Executive Director. Guided instrument programs for diagnostics manufacturers, consistently delivering double-digit year-over-year growth while supporting revenue expansion from ~$40M to more than $100M.
  • Eppendorf — Vice President, Global OEM Business. Negotiated and structured the company’s OEM partnership agreements with a top-three global in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) company, a deal valued at ~€200M.
  • Tecan — commercial leadership. Drove automated liquid-handling platform development, structuring a $21M development program that converted into $10M in recurring annual manufacturing revenue.
  • VisEn Medical Inc. — Vice President of Sales, Americas.
  • Thermo Fisher Scientific — Director of North American Sales.

Across these roles, John built, led and expanded commercial businesses spanning molecular imaging, laboratory automation, high-content imaging, consumables and software platforms.

John holds a degree in Biology from Fitchburg State University and is an active participant in the Analytical, Life Science & Diagnostics Association (ALDA) and the German-American Business Council of Boston (GABC).

Why this matters for 37degrees

The 37degrees platform is built on partnerships — between connected instruments and the data layer behind them, and between 37degrees and the companies and research groups that put that technology to work. John’s OEM and instrumentation background translates directly into the durable partnerships that now underpin that strategy, as the company brings CultureON 100 and the OMĒOS data platform — the first offerings of an expanding lineup — to market.

37degrees welcomes John to the Board of Advisors!
